Wobbly Waffle
Behind the Seams
Each high-top features a small-batch upper hand-woven by artisans in Thailand. Beautifully imperfect by design. The Wobbly Waffle is woven by hand (and sometimes feet!) from homegrown brown cotton and real indigo, meaning no two panels come out the same. The Indigo Handloom follows the same logic: naturally dyed cloth that softens, fades, and gets more yours the longer you wear it. The shoe wears in, not out.
Fabric like this almost never makes it into footwear. It's too slow and irregular for how shoes are normally made. It took a mill that is happy to weave it, a factory that is happy to work with it, and two brands that are stubborn enough to insist on such levels of high-quality craftsmanship. That same spirit carries through to the details of a sewn-on ankle patch featuring Story mfg.'s signature apple motif. The patch is hand-drawn and intentionally imperfect, wobbly letters and all, which is a small but meaningful nod to the craft behind every stitch.
Since 1937, P.F. Flyers has made honest, hard-wearing footwear with a recipe that's barely changed. Story mfg. has spent thirteen years making naturally dyed, hand-crafted clothing in small batches with the same stubborn conviction. Different worlds, same religion, a collaboration that makes perfectly imperfect sense.
